Recreation Fields 8/9 had to be relocated to provide space for the future Football Complex. This project presented the opportunity for UNCC to create a more efficiently designed and enclosed club, and intramural facility. Approximately 230,000 square feet of synthetic surface, including a restroom and storage facility, house a multifunctional space for club, intramural, and summer camp events. In addition, natural surface fields on Fields 5 and 6 provide proper irrigation, underdrains, and fencing for a variety of sporting events. The entire facility is fenced and monitored with card access gates. As part of the project, an existing Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility (CMUD) sewer main was relocated to provide an efficient layout of the fields.
