People Matter: Drew Vanderwert
Drew Vanderwert is a landscape architect in LandDesign’s Boulder office! When Drew isn’t getting deep into the details of a master planned community or themed destination, he’s dreaming of designing the ultimate mid-century modern home. As a part of our growing Boulder crew, he wants you to know that they just took a DNA test and they are 100% that team (and they clearly love Lizzo)!

Q: Why landscape architecture?
I love landscape architecture because it’s a combination of science and art. Plus, I get to see my creations come to life!
Q: Favorite LandDesign project?
That’s too hard, I don’t think I can pick just one.
Q: LandDesign office you’d like to visit?
Our Orlando office, so I can make a pitstop and check out some of the projects I am working on.
Q: Favorite trend that’s happening in the industry?
I really enjoy the direction the industry is moving towards in regards to 3-D visualization. In addition, the innovation in materials and site furnishings is exciting.
Q: Who would you like to collaborate with, that you haven’t already?
Joseph Eichler (20th century, post-war real estate developer) because outside of landscape architecture I have a passion for Mid Century modern residential design.
Q: Favorite thing about Boulder?
There’s always something bizarre going on outside my window.
Q: Best fast food french fry?
You can’t beat a freshly made In-N-Out fry.
Q: What’s the best part of your day?
Spending my evenings with my wife and dog enjoying the quiet before the baby is born.
Q: What’s one thing you’d want LandDesigners to know about the Boulder crew?
We just took a DNA test. Turns out, we’re 100% that team!
Q: What’s the largest animal you think you could domesticate?
I’ve always wanted to have a pet bear to wrestle.
