LandDesign Welcomes New Studio Leaders, Danny and David Watson

We are excited to announce that Danny Watson, PE, CFM, PMP and David Watson, PE, MSc, D.WRE have joined LandDesign as Studio Leaders in our Charlotte office.

Danny and David share a passion for improving communities through engineering. Their 25+ year careers have provided them the opportunity to work in nearly every facet of the field—from public and private infrastructure improvements to nuclear energy land development projects. Although their career paths look similar on paper, they each found an individual expertise that compliments the other when working together.

Danny found his niche working with public and private entities, leading civil engineering teams on infrastructure and facility improvements in the southeast region. Danny has worked in various sectors of the industry, including commercial development, energy and department of transportation, as well as with municipalities, including Mecklenburg County, Charlotte, Kannapolis, Cornelius and Gastonia. Through these experiences, he has built trusting relationships with his clients, guiding them from project kick-off through construction closeout.

David’s career has focused on leading stormwater improvements and land development projects for the City of Charlotte Storm Water Services and Land Development divisions. After nearly a decade of working for the City, he pursued a career in the nuclear energy sector with Duke Energy. While with Duke Energy, he led and managed over 40 projects in the region, including projects within the Fukushima Task Force, a team created to model ‘Beyond Design Basis’ flooding events on Duke Energy’s fleet of operating Nuclear Power Plants.

At LandDesign, Danny and David will combine their expertise and lead teams of engineers in both public and private engineering work. When asked if they are worried about working together, Danny will proudly tell you that, “We have succeeded at different companies, but have found that we really enjoy sharing ideas, collaborating and contributing to success within the same firm.”

Their entrepreneurial spirit makes Danny and David a perfect fit for LandDesign, and together will strengthen our expertise in the public and private engineering sectors. Kevin Vogel, Partner said, “The addition of Danny and David will allow us to continue to grow our experience in the public sector, but what truly excites me is the opportunity they bring to expand markets for the firm.”
