Carolina Thread Trail Vision Plan

Growing out of the Strategic Regional Open Space Framework, LandDesign developed a vision plan for a region-wide trail system that spans the 15 counties surrounding Charlotte. Based on data collected from all counties as well as criteria for appropriate greenway locations, LandDesign used GIS modeling to determine the best greenway patterns and identified destination points in the trail system that could act as regional draws. To-date, LandDesign has also developed trails for the Catawba County and Cleveland County greenway segments, branding concepts for the Catawba County segment, and a pedestrian bridge concept to link the Gaston County and Mecklenburg County segments.
