Joining LandDesign in 1989, Ray Waugh is Partner and Chief Operating Officer. Based in Charlotte, Mr. Waugh is responsible for the firm’s day-to-day operating activities, including revenue and sales growth; expense, cost, and margin control; and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial goal management. He is also responsible for a design staff of engineers, surveyors, and landscape architects; project contract development; and administration of site-specific design and construction document preparation.

With 25 years experience, Mr. Waugh’s expertise focuses on roadway layout and design; master planning and design of large-scale stormwater management projects; and overall layout and design of commercial and residential projects, including design of roadways, grading, stormwater and wastewater systems, water distribution, and erosion and sediment control. His career has focused on the issues of comprehensive engineering and stormwater planning, which synthesize growth and environmental objectives. His recent planning work throughout the Carolinas is centered on issues of sustainable development and the planning and implementation of significant economic development projects. He has directed engineering planning and design for projects, including North Carolina Research Campus, Grandover Resort, Hwy 311 Corridor Study, Mayfaire Town Center, Mendenhall Office Park, and Baxter Village.

Mr. Waugh earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is a registered professional engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, Kansas, Florida, and Missouri. He is also a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers. Mr. Waugh has served as Associate Professor at NC A&T University.
