Joining LandDesign in 2001, Nate Doolittle is a Principal and Civil Engineer. Based in Charlotte, he is responsible for directing both public and private infrastructure and site development projects throughout the Southeast. He is the lead consultant on a variety of large-scale mixed-use developments, campus and university work, and urban infill redevelopment that require site assessment, environmentally sustainable design, and innovative infrastructure solutions.
With eight years experience, Mr. Doolittle's expertise includes an understanding of public funding mechanisms, like tax increment financing; an intimate knowledge of urban infill redevelopment, including permitting and coordination with government agencies; an understanding of how site planning, rezoning, entitlements, and master planning work together seamlessly; and comprehensive knowledge of innovative utility and infrastructure design methods, including construction-oriented costs and new or innovative storm water technology.
Among his most notable projects are the North Carolina Research Campus, an award-winning LEED-certified redevelopment into a mixed-use bio-technical and nutrition-focused research campus, and Brookberry Farms, a 740-acre master plan that includes a mixed-use component of single-family homes, apartments, offices, retail shops, and recreational amenities.
Mr. Doolittle earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt University and is a registered professional engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Maryland. He is also a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers and Urban Land Institute.
