Joining LandDesign in 1997, Matt Clark is a Principal and Landscape Architect. Based in Alexandria, he oversees the daily operations of that office and is involved with both the project management and coordination of the office design staff and projects as well as office business development and marketing. In his project-specific role, he continues to be responsible for client management, scheduling, and project development, including conceptual design through preparation of final construction documents to construction administration/implementation.
With 12 years experience, Mr. Clark offers clients his expertise with an ability to understand a project's needs and translate them into realistic applications of a project's vision so that it is on-time, within-budget, and build-able, decreasing the need for costly change-orders. He has extensive experience with multi-family and active adult communities, and his recent efforts have also included master planning efforts overseas in both Colombia and Russia. Among Mr. Clark's U.S. projects are a number of mixed-use projects, such as Potomac Yard, Fallsgrove, King Farm, and Crown Farm as well as a variety of large residential projects such as Heritage Shores, Columbia Town Center, and Colonial Heritage at Williamsburg.
Mr. Clark earned a Bachelor of Science in Urban Forestry and Landscape Horticulture from the University of Vermont and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry and is a registered landscape architect in Virginia and Maryland. He is also a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Landscape Architects, Congress for New Urbanism, and Urban Land Institute.
