Joining LandDesign in 1991, Meg Nealon is a Partner and Senior Planner. Based in Charlotte, she is responsible for directing large-scale, public-sector planning projects for all six of the firm's U.S. offices. She also provides assistance with due diligence efforts and entitlement processes for large developments and manages a variety of other planning, urban design, and GIS projects.

With 18 years experience, Ms. Nealon's focus is on regional planning with an emphasis on balancing the sometimes competing objectives of economic development and natural resource conservation. Her recent work includes a number of comprehensive land use plans and small area plans for cities and counties, corridor studies for major highway and transit corridors, regional plans, and development of regulations and policies to promote mixed-use development and sustainable design.

Most notable in Ms. Nealon's portfolio are the Strategic Regional Open Space Framework, an ASLA award-winning project that incorporates six types of open space in 14 counties and provides a regional vision, set of tools, and methodology for open space protection and land-use planning across two states, and the City of Monroe Downtown Master Plan, an NC APA award-winning plan to revitalize Monroe's historic core and reposition it as the focal point of commerce, arts, and industry.

Ms. Nealon earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia and a Master of Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a registered landscape architect in North Carolina and a certified planner through the AICP. She is also a member of several professional organizations, including the American Planning Association, Urban Land Institute, and International Sustainability Council. Ms. Nealon is also active in the Charlotte community, having held an at-large seat on the City of Charlotte's Historic District Commission and having provided volunteer services for a variety of environmentally-oriented initiatives.
