Joining LandDesign in 1997, Brent Martin is a Principal and Senior Landscape Architect. Based in Southern Pines, he is responsible for directing all design projects from conceptual planning through construction documents in that office. As a landscape architect with 12 years experience, he has worked on a broad range of projects from large master planned communities to small site design.

Mr. Martin’s expertise lies in resort-style communities and mixed-use developments, providing for the balance between the desired aesthetic qualities and the required functionality.  Recent work includes a number of second-home resort communities, boomer-focused residential, mixed-use lifestyle centers, sustainable-focused master planned communities, and county government facilities, including a detention center, public safety center, and government offices.

Among his most notable projects are Anson Town Center Business District, a mixed-use development focused on low-impact development principles, and The National Golf Club of Kansas City, an award-winning golf course community that includes two 18-hole golf courses, one of which is a championship course designed by Tom Watson.

Mr. Martin earned his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Ball State University and is a registered landscape architect in North Carolina and Virginia. He is also a member of several professional organizations, including the Urban Land Institute, International Sustainability Council, American Society of Landscape Architects, and Council of Landscape Architect Registration Board.
