Symphony Park at SouthPark Mall

Charlotte, NC

SouthPark Mall, a 95-acre site located approximately five miles southeast of Charlotte’s city center, is considered to be the “cornerstone” of the SouthPark area. LandDesign’s task was to redesign the mall site to transition it from a 1970s-style suburban mall to a “town center” for the SouthPark area. The intent is to create a mixed-use development that will maintain the economic health of the SouthPark area and the mall itself, a 520,000 SF expansion of the existing facility. Pictured is Symphony Park, which will accommodate the Charlotte Symphony’s Concert Series and provide a new park for adjoining neighborhoods.
