Planned and designed by LandDesign for The Harris Group, Phillips Place was one of the first pedestrian-oriented urban mixed-use centers built in the Carolinas as a stand-alone infill development. The plan concept creates a cross axis of the primary shopping street and a residential pedestrian axis incorporating a Garden Court. The High Street is anchored at one end by a hotel and at the other by a cinema, each terminal vista complimented by a fountain placed in the foreground of the building. Residential apartments are integrated into the second level of buildings on High Street, above the shops and restaurants, and transition from the vertical mixed-use to a more private residential community at the Garden Court.
