We’ve done it again! We are proud to announce that we have placed in the top 5 for Charlotte Business […]
LandDesign continues to successfully grow our offices across the country—all thanks to our passionate people and the great work they do. Chad Kovaleski is one of these people, leading the San Francisco office in pushing boundaries and bringing innovative design to the region since we opened doors there three years ago. Through these contributions, we are proud to announce Chad’s promotion to Managing Principal of LandDesign’s San Francisco office.
With large retail anchors closing doors, Chad has led the reimagining of traditional retail developments into engaging, amenitized and sustainable places. Chad’s leadership in complex renovations and planning of places like the Shoppes at Carlsbad, Westminster Mall and Town Center Corte Madera has earned LandDesign recognition as the go-to team to take these transformations from idea to reality.
Growing an office is more than just providing great work. It’s also about culture, building a great team and being a recognized leader in the practice inside and outside of the office. Chad has proven to be a great mentor, building a design studio in San Francisco from the ground up.
“This group is innovative, nimble and passionate about what they do—all the things that I really appreciate and make me excited to work with them in contributing great design to this amazing city,” Chad says.
Chad has over a decade of master planning and design experience. He’s played a major role in growing LandDesign’s portfolio of large-scale mixed use, resort/hospitality and waterfront developments, and is actively extending LandDesign’s park and recreation expertise to the west coast.
Chad began his career designing golf courses, resorts, and golf course communities, combining his love for golf and an appreciation for landscapes. The son of landscape designers, Chad grew up on a farm with manicured gardens, ponds, waterfalls and historic structures. He began playing golf when he was six to stay out of his parent’s way on the farm, leading him to several summers working on the golf course grounds-crew and a Division 1 golf career at Iowa State University.
Chad joined LandDesign’s Charlotte office in 2012, and quickly proved his contributions to the firm, earning him leadership positions. He most recently served as Director of the San Francisco location prior to his promotion.
“When passionate people come to us looking for new opportunities, we support them,” President Rhett Crocker says about Chad’s vision to open an office in San Francisco in 2015. “Chad is building something very special on the west coast that will continue to take us to places we have not been before.
